India update phthalates in toys safety standards

August 9, 2011 news, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has updated the restriction of phthalates in toys (phthalates) content required to meet the United States, Canada and the EU member states and 30 countries restrictions on phthalates in India will follow this initiative by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidelines made under the provisions of the guidelines, children's toys and childcare articles in the various types of phthalates ban content of not more than 0.1%

Prior to this, India has provided the standard phthalates in toys shall not exceed 0.1% of the total; but the requirement that the sum of three types of phthalates, including dioctyl phthalate (DEHP ), capric phthalate esters (DDP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or isononyl phthalate ester (DINP, isodecyl phthalate ester (DIDP) and phthalic acid octyl ester (DNOP), and not to each of not more than 0.1%.

Toy Association of India held in New Delhi in July, the 5th International Toy Expo, while India has decided it is following the U.S. Toy Industry Association (TIA) and the Bureau of Indian Standards discussed in this exposition of the decision. Toy Industry Association Technology Alan Kaufman, Vice President and Bureau of Indian Standards has been the talk of India, Dr. Vijay Malik provisions of phthalates, saying the move will help the establishment of worldwide safety standards for toys. Alan Kaufman also pointed out that India revised its neighbors phthalate limits, means that India's toy safety efforts a step forward in the hope that the restrictions on phthalates, toy companies able to develop safer products, and more smoothly out of the open up new markets abroad.
